Robert Fidel Bundi (1927–1999) was born in Switzerland on 13 May 1927 and immigrated to Canada in 1952. Bundi worked as a waiter at the Owl's Nest, the main restaurant at the Calgary Inn, from the time it opened in 1962 until his retirement in 1989. In 1966 he was awarded by the Calgary Tourist and Convention Association for "preserving the city's friendly hospitality image."

In 1954, Bundi married Stephanie (Stella) Lupka Wynnychuk (1934–1991). They had one daughter, Kathryn. Bundi died in Calgary on 1 September 1999 at age 72.
