Kenneth Sloan Dixon QC (1915–1982) was born in Calgary to Anthony McLellan Dixon (1884–1949) and Lucy Lois Sloan (1890–1966). Dixon attended Central High School in Calgary and later went to the University of Alberta, where he graduated Bachelor of Arts in 1937 and Bachelor of Laws in 1938. Upon graduation he articled with J. E. A. Macleod in Calgary. After the outbreak of war, in 1940 Dixon joined the Royal Canadian Navy Volunteer Reserve and served in Nova Scotia. In 1946 he returned to Calgary to continue his legal practice, which became Macleod McDermid Dixon and Associates.


Dixon married Patricia Margherite Keir (1917–1997). They had three sons: Gordon, John, and Kenneth. He died on 16 January 1982 at age 66.
