George H. Cloakey Jr (1900-1979) was born in Olds, Alberta to George H. Cloakey Sr (1869-1950) and Lila Edwards (1868-1912). George Sr was born in Ontario and in 1893 moved with his family to a farm near Olds. At various times George Sr worked as a farmer, ranch inspector, and land agent. After 1918 he became involved in petroleum and later was president of Seneca Oil and Gas Company. George Jr was a lifelong oilman and was president of Britalta Oils. He was also the president of the Calgary General Hospital. George Cloakey married Grace Leavenworth Winter.
