George Frederick "Bud" Coote (1918–2003) was born in Nanton on 26 January 1918 to George Gibson Coote MP (1889–1959) and Jeanette Louise McKinnon (18??–1951). Bud graduated Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta in 1940.

On 12 June 1943, Coote married Margaret Virginia Keillor (d. 1982). They had four children: Mara, Max, Jennette, and Joanne. George died on 3 February 2003 at age 85.
