DOME BUILDING

Firm: J. Stevenson and Associates

Address: 706 7 Avenue SW

Date of final plans: October 1957

Status: standing; six-storey addition circa 1980

The Dome Building was constructed for the aforementioned oil company that Jack Gallagher had been operating in Calgary since 1950. The building is situated on the north-west corner of 7th Avenue South and 6th Street West on a 123' by 80' lot. Stevenson's design is a fairly standard international style design of three-window bays separated by steel pilasters. On the south façade, the westernmost bay is set back from the building face and covered by a steel screen holding a company emblem. (This feature has been removed.)

The original building stands mostly as built, save for a six-storey addition that was made around 1980. The addition follows the original design, however, the coloration is slightly off.
