BRIAR BUILDING

Firm: Clayton Bond and Mogridge

Address: 1009 7 Avenue SW

Date: 1961

Status: altered

The Briar Building was commissioned in 1960 by Ronald C. Fox (1927–2009) and Thornton Knowles "Suds" Summerell (1929–1989), both of whom were insurance men working for Crosland Peacock at the time. It was completed in the spring of 1962. Around 2013 the façade underwent a horrible remodelling. The building may have been named for Mr Fox's home, which was located on Briar Crescent.
