BARRISTERS' BUILDING

Firm: likely A. Dale and Associates

Address: 534 6 Avenue SW

Date of final plans: 1959

Status: demolished in 1964

The Barristers' Building was constructed in 1959 for the Farmers and Merchants Trust Company Limited, a company founded in Long Beach, California in 1920. Tenants included the firms Patterson Harradence MacPherson & Co., McColough McCaffery & McCaffery, and Occidental Life Insurance of California.

I haven't found a photo of the building. Articles about its construction say it was three storeys. The architect was likely A. Dale and Associates, who designed Farmers and Merchants' other projects in the city. The building had a very short life as it was demolished in 1964 to make way for the new Calgary House.
